PERSONAL STATEMENT

 

I'm a designer maker with 10 years experience working and exhibiting in Scotland. I aim to make work which is a reflection of our heritage and design past using both traditional and digital techniques. I aim to make work and projects which are joyful and celebrate our lives; working with others to create positive solutions and interventions within our communities.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

 

2022 Projects: Horatio’s Garden Artist in Residence - working with spinal injuries patients on clay and block printing processes to make bespoke pots and plant tags. In Print CIC project leader, working with young people to learn skills in printmaking and design. Tidy, Clean and Green Community Signage Project in Camelon and Tamfourhill. Creative Lead at Impact Arts Enterprising Pathways Programme 17 - 22 year olds.


2021 Projects. Hamewares 2021 New Perspectives Commission for the Barn in Aberdeenshire. ‘If Trees Could Talk’ collaborative project with Greater Pollok Glasgow Artists in Residence; Hannah Brackston and Daniele Sambo. Moths to a Flame temporary Artwork for COP26 with artist Hannah Brackston. Collaborative project with artists and designers Hannah Brackston and Natasha Russell; A Creative Corner for Albert Cross, Tiled Mural on Albert Cross.

2020, Building Arts Programme Participant, a programme exploring the role that building arts and traditional crafts have in the built environment and holistic methods of making. 

2015 - 2019, Project lead for Ice cream Architecture. Facilitating various community consultations, co-designed cultural and creative programmes with a variety of communities across Scotland.

 

2010 - 2015, Freelance projects for various graphic design or maker commissions including map design, logo and editorial design, bookbinding commissions, screen print commissions. Exhibiting artists including Edinburgh Printmakers New Print Generation Residency, Scottish Artists’ Society Graduate Award, solo exhibition at the Amber Leaf Gallery. 

 

2012 - 2015, Tutor and Print room manager for Edinburgh Contemporary Craft workshop leading and programming print and bookbinding workshops for a variety of abilities and ages. 


2011 - 2015, Workshop leader with various education and community organisations and projects including Star-catchers, Stevenson College, Flytte Poetry and Repeat.
