Weft Bench is a collaboration between, textile designer Sarah Diver Lang, applied surface upholsterer Eve Hynd and furniture designer and maker M’eudail M’eudail.

The bench and back rest aims to use up quality materials which are often discarded in the making and design process. Fabric has been natural dyed and printed using onion skins, weld and madder on 100% British wool scraps and end of line fabric. The fabric has been patchworked together and combined with printed linen elements, before being sewn and attached to the bench using traditional upholstery methods.

The wood was retrieved from a felled ash tree in Govan, Glasgow and has been resawn to thickness, embracing ‘imperfections’ in the wood. The bench aims work with the natural qualities of each material to enhance their visual and tactile quality.
